National Park Service River, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program is currently assisting by way of a Community Assistance grant. The purpose of the grant is to increase the historical and natural heritage of the region while developing long term strategies for river trail management.

Florence County GIS Department

 

Lynches River County Park assists in education of youth through its environmental discovery center at Lynches River County Park, the starting point of the SC Revolutionary Rivers National Recreation Trail. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the park. The park superintendent has played a key role in FOREVR.

Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau has placed a great deal of advertising since 2013 to raise awareness and increase visitation to the SC Revolutionary Rivers National Recreation Trail.

The City of Johnsonville has developed a public landing to encourage more use of the waterway and to educate the public of the role that the river played in the Revolutionary War. Each year, the town hosts its Heritage Days event at Venters Landing which is the site where General Francis Marion took command of the Williamsburg Militia in 1780.

SC Department of Natural Resources has provided guidance and assisted by speaking at public meetings.

SC National Heritage Corridor designed the logo for the trail, created media schedules and marketing plan.

Florence School District One is ready to assist by coordinating field trips to experience the river through a potential grant-funded project.

Team Rubicon is a veteran-led volunteer team specializing in disaster response.  This awesome group is assisting us to clear tree debris from our rivers.

SC Parks Recreation and Tourism Department has provided a tremendous amount of publicity, advertising grants, and arranged for the editor of Field & Stream to film a video of the National Recreation Trail. Swamp Fox Kayaking and Rentals is an outfitter in Johnsonville that spends an incredible amount of time in maintaining the river, keeping the SC Revolutionary Rivers trail ready for paddlers.

River Rat’s Canoe and Kayak Rental in Scranton has been instrumental coordinating all efforts surrounding the SC Revolutionary Rivers trail, in additional to building awareness of our natural resources .

Florence Rotary Club has provided a grant of $1500 to purchase adaptive equipment for use by physically, mentally, and/or behaviorally handicapped individuals.

McCall Farms is an environmentally conscious canning facility adjacent to Lynches River. McCall Farms has provided in-kind donations to build awareness of the historical significance of the SC Revolutionary Rivers trail.
